Branding for Brisbane clients and beyond

To understand how we deliver for clients, take a quick look at these two Brand Identity projects for two national clients. (Clients based in Sydney with branding created here in Brisbane.)

The Hotel Network

The Hotel Network was a major supplier of accommodation to the federal government, facing stiff competition with the renewal of major government contracts.

As an online booking service for business travellers the company also wanted to appeal more to the corporate market and elevate its brand so it could establish some strategic partnerships with companies like Concur.

As part of the brief, the client wanted to have some linkage with the previous maroon logo.

Their new brand identity nailed the brief by

  • Being more bold, modern and substantial
  • Incorporating the red colour while being refreshed with blue (a strong corporate colour, one denoting trust)
  • Working exceptionally well in native format but also reverse out as you can see on their website
  • Turning the word THE on its side, it created the perception of a multi-story building.
  • Adapting the enter keyboard symbol as arrows as part of the brand identity– suggesting ‘book here, ‘enter here’.
  • Using the arrows as great graphical devices, icon and avatar.

Outdoor Recreation Industry Council NSW

After a consultation process with stakeholders and a brand workshop with Action Communications, NSW NGO, Outdoor Recreation Industry Council — ORIC — decided to re-brand to Outdoors NSW to appeal to a widening outdoors sector (beyond recreation). It also wanted to better position itself as a champion for outdoor activities and reinforce its leadership role in the outdoors.

Through this branding project we created a new tagline: Advancing outdoor experiences and a new logo. As you can see, the colours are more reflective of the green bush and blue waterways; the client wanting stronger connections to nature. Our preferred logo here was for something that truly said NSW (the one with plant leaves like the opera house), however the client opted for a modernisation of their existing tree.
